The holidays have arrived at Pepp’s Pizzeria in Urbandale, IA, and we’re serving up festive twists on your comfort-food favorites! We invited Dennis “Coach D” Schuessler, a Special Education Tutor at Johnston Middle School, to taste-test each of our four seasonal December pizzas and share his thoughts.
Coach D has spent the past 12 years supporting students across a wide range of subjects, and outside the classroom, he coaches tennis, bowling, and golf. We were honored to have him stop by Pepp’s to sample our new flavors and hang out with the crew!
The grades are in! From the cozy Pot Roast Pizza to the warm Spinach Artichoke, December's specials are ones you won't want to miss. Here’s what Coach D thought of each one:
“French dip is spectacular! Tastes just like a French dip, excellent tender beef, excellent crust, caramelized onions. What else could you ask for? A great timely special for when the weather turns a little colder."
"Wow, that is fabulous. That is like the perfect pizza for this time of year. Very warm. Once again, the crust is superb, balsamic glaze really makes it pop, and the wontons give it a little crunch. Excellent!"
"Boy, you say Pot Roast, you’ve already got my attention. Pot roast, tender. Potatoes remind you of your home, mashed potatoes. And a little health with the carrots and the celery. A must have down here at Pepps. Come try it."
“Little bit on the spicy side for me, does have a kick. Crust is great. Slivered carrots and the onion provide some additional flavor. Peanuts, there’s a lot of them. You gotta like peanuts on this thing. Excellent though, great special!”
The Pot Roast Pizza easily took the win! Coach D didn’t hesitate: “It's a pizza, it's a meal, it's hardy, it's everything you could want. Come try the pot roast pizza at Pepp’s!”
